What people say about Diane…

“ Since 2018, the power of Diane Giroux’s leadership to bring a relationship based focus for Indigenous people experiencing homeless through the Giiwe project has changed the landscape of how organizations work together and view  Indigenous ways of healing.
Giiwe is based on relationship building and connecting with other organizations to make changes to address the problems of Indigenous homelessness. Social services across the board began to embrace new ways of working in tandem with each other in addressing issues that affect the community. Agencies took on new ways of looking at issues and responded with more awareness of Indigenous ways of knowing and healing.
Diane has made a significant impact on our community and leaves a legacy for her work with M’Wikwedong.”

“Shortly after arriving in Owen Sound as the Chief of Police I reached out to M’Wikwedong
and was put in contact with Dianne Giroux. I explained my goal of raising cultural awareness amongst first responders in Grey County and building a relationship the police and member of the First Nations community. Dianne eagerly joined to champion the work and push the project forward. This resulted in several full day sessions for members of the Owen Sound Police Service and other First responders in Grey amd Bruce Counties. The feedback from the sessions was overwhelmingly positive and resulted in a follow up session to build on the original information. The positive results also resulted in training for city staff, politicians, hospital staff and others receiving training.
None of this would have happened without Dianne getting involved and assisting with helping move my vision to action
.”

Owen Sound Police Chief

“Diane is a leader who is a healer and relationship-builder. Her presence has been a healing bridge that has opened up beautiful relationships and meaning that would not otherwise have come. She has an incredible capacity to listen deeply and follow a vision, to share it with others, and then to find the acumen to make it happen. Her love of people and commitment to people thriving is contagious! There just aren’t words to express how grateful we are for her and for the richness and beauty she has made possible.”
